The authors attempt to test the
framework of Garrison, Anderson and Archer's Community
of Inquiry (CoI) model. Their result
suggest that the instrument is a valid but also split the teaching presence
into one part relating to course design while a second part related to the
behavior of the instructor. A discussion
follows.

This paper describes a model that was
created from work by tutors at Coventry Business School. The model applies current theoretical
thinking about collaborative learning in a design whose strength is its
simplicity. Emphasis is placed on the
roles dialogue and discussions have in a social constructivist paradigm of
learning.

This article describes a different
model for online learning based on work done by Fowler and Mayers (2000). The history of ideas presented here are
different from the others articles. The
āCā model consists of Content (the declarative knowledge), Construction
(knowledge construction during active learning), and consolidation (reflection
and realization of learning)

description of the CoI framework and the recent research about it. There is a section on instructional design,
facilitating, and direct instruction during an online class. This is followed by ideas for future research
and new directions to look at.
